Third-Grade Students Celebrate Agriculture Literacy Week
Announcement image for article 2670
In observance of Agriculture Literacy Week, Joan Layman and Joan Whitt, members of the Halifax County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee, read the book, “Sleep Tight Farm,” to third graders at Sydnor Jennings Elementary School. The students were connected to agriculture by taking a journey to discover what happens on the farm throughout the seasons, as they learned how farmers work to provide safe and healthy food all year long. The children were shown a wide array of farm products which were mentioned in the book. Materials also were left for each student to make a mobile showing the four seasons on the farm.

Kindergarten Enjoys Both Math and Reading
Announcement image for article 2665
When children's books have math themes, reading becomes an opportunity to enjoy more than a good story. It becomes an opportunity to explore math problems at the same time.  Mrs. Elizabeth Dixon's and Mrs. Sandra Cash's kindergarten students make it clear to see that they love doing both.

Pre-Kindergarten Registration 2017-2018
