Dear HCPS Staff,
Welcome back to another exciting school year! As we prepare for the upcoming academic year, I am thrilled to introduce our new longevity incentive bonus program as part of the larger Stay with Halifax, Grow with Halifax longevity plan. This program is designed to acknowledge and reward the dedicated service of our staff members.
This program acknowledges the hard work and commitment of our employees by providing longevity incentive bonuses at 5-year milestones, starting from 5 years and extending up to 35 years of consecutive service in HCPS. I am pleased to announce that this is the first year of the program, and employees' years of service will be based on their number of consecutive years at HCPS as of June 30, 2024.
For those staff members who are not currently at a 5-year milestone, you will receive the bonus once you reach the next 5-year interval in your tenure at HCPS. It's important to note that this program requires a baseline to start, and this school year marks the inaugural year of implementation. To be perfectly clear, there had to be a starting point year, and there is no way to go back to the closest milestone year for employees as it is designed to be a five-year incremental bonus. We will track years of service and pay incentives going forward. If you are not part of the milestone group this year, you will receive your next milestone bonus when you reach your next level on the 5-year incremental chart. A small group of employees will get these milestone rewards each year going forward. Reminder: If you leave HCPS and later return, you start over at year one.
Furthermore, I am excited to share that employees currently at HCPS Years of Service 35 or more will receive a one-time bonus of $5000. We believe that it's crucial to recognize the longstanding dedication of our veteran staff members, and this bonus payment will be included as part of your contract pay on August 30, 2024.
I want to express my sincere appreciation to all of you for your continued commitment to the success of our students and the HCPS community. As we embark on this new school year, let us all look forward to the opportunities and achievements that lie ahead. Thank you for your hard work and dedication, and best wishes for a successful academic year!
Sincerely,
Dr. Amy D. Huskins, Ed.D
