For three days at the end of January, seventh-grade students took a Learning Quest to space.
With the help of three mini-grants from the Halifax Education Foundation and one from the Virginia Education Association, Mrs. Bowers-Stanley, Ms. Hamlett, and Mrs. Mitchell were able to make it happen. Physical science students participated in a STEM activity where they visited stations to create scale models of the solar system and explore the solar system through virtual reality headsets purchased with grant funding. The lesson focused on orbital paths, rotation, measurement, and distance. We would like to thank the Halifax Education Foundation & the Virginia Education Association for supporting innovative instruction at HCMS!
