
The Halifax County School Board will have a training meeting on Friday, December 8, 2023. The meeting will be held at the SOVA Innovation Hub in South Boston. The meeting will begin at 8:00 AM.

As part of VSBA Take Your Legislator to School Month, Delegate Wright and Delegate Edmunds will be visiting our schools to see how we are implementing the Governor’s ALL IN VA Plan and focusing on Career and Technical Education.


Mrs. Smith's first grade class at Cluster Springs Elementary listened to the story, Balloons Over Broadway, which told about the puppeteer who invented the first balloons for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. During this STEM activity, students created Ozobot balloons and had them travel the route of the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.

Members of The Girls Who Code Club at Cluster Springs Elementary received Swag from The Girls Who Code Program. Each girl was given a t-shirt, sticker, and notebook. Recently, they designed and printed name plates for School Board Members, Dr. Huskin, and CSES Administrators. The club is led by facilitator, Susan Elliott, ITRT.









Kindergarteners in Ms. Hollis's class at Meadville Elementary are finishing up a thematic unit on force. In this hands on activity, students were trying to decide if pushing or pulling was easier or faster as they slid their classmates across the rug in a basket. They also completed a STEAM challenge using Legos to build an item that could hold a can of playdough. Students tested out pushing and pulling their creations.

World Kindness Day is a day to highlight good deeds in the community focusing on the positive power and the common thread of kindness for good which binds us. Kindness is a fundamental part of the human condition which bridges the divides of race, religion, politics, gender, and location.

Kindergarteners in Mrs. Wilborn's class at Cluster Springs Elementary have been working on numbers and counting objects up to 10. During this activity, students had to count the pictures on a card, find the number to match the amount counted, and land the drone on the correct number.

Virginians have a new tool to help them plan for their education after high school with a new website launched by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia. The Level Up Virginia website provides information on educational options such as certificate programs, apprenticeships, the military, trade schools, two-year and four-year colleges, and universities. In addition, the website offers tips for adult learners, students with disabilities, first-generation students, and English language learners. The Halifax County School Board has established its intent, in accordance with Section 15.2-2507 of the Code of Virginia, as amended, to adopt a resolution amending Halifax County Public Schools Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Budget and appropriating the funds budgeted for expenditure. It is proposed that the budget be amended to include certain federal, state. and local monies allocated to the Halifax County Public Schools as released by the General Assembly as of September 6, 2023. Public comments will be heard beginning at 5:00 pm at the Halifax High School. Presentation of the budget will follow public comment and submitted for approval by the Board.
