There will be a joint Facilities Committee Meeting on Monday, July 28, 2025 at 10:00 AM. The meeting will be held in the Superintendent's Conference Room in the Mary Bethune Office Complex. It is located at 1030 Mary Bethune St., Halifax, VA 24558.

New SUN Bucks cards are on the way for automatically enrolled households! Please note that your benefits will not become available on SUN Bucks or SNAP EBT cards until July 18, even if you receive a SUN Bucks card in the mail before that date. Benefits will continue to be issued on a rolling basis, so households can expect to receive their SUN Bucks cards at different times.

Second Lady Usha Vance has invited K-8 students to participate in the Second Lady’s 2025 Summer Reading Challenge. Joining is easy: Read 12 books of your choice between June 1 and September 5 and track your progress on the official reading log. Students who complete the challenge with parent/guardian input can earn a personalized certificate and a small prize. Patrick Moran, the co-founder of Look North World, a UGC game studio and publisher building on creator platforms like Fortnite UEFN and Curseforge, was the guest speaker for students in Computer Science Camp. Before Look North World, Mr. Moran held product roles including Chief Product Officer at Kongregate, Franchise Lead at MobilityWare, and positions at Amazon, Disney, and EA. His work in the video game industry has driven over $3 billion in revenue, with notable contributions to Mass Effect 2, recognized by IGN as the #6 best game of all time. During his presentation, Mr. Moran shared with students the various career choices involved with the gaming industry. He talked about the positions he has held in the industry and answered the questions students posed to him…well, with an exception…he couldn’t let them know what new is coming out with Fortnite! Students and teachers thoroughly enjoyed Mr. Moran’s visit and are so grateful he came to speak with them today!

School is out, summer meals are in! Halifax County Public Schools is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), disability or age, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Meals will be provided, on a first come, first serve basis, at the sites and times listed below. Children must remain onsite while consuming their meals. Halifax Middle May 28 - May 30, June 2 – June 12 Breakfast 8:00-8:45 Lunch 11:00 - 1:00 Middle and High school students will both attend the Middle School Cluster Springs Elem. All buildings and offices will be closed on Monday, May 26, 2025 in observance of Memorial Day.

The last day of school for students will be Thursday, May 22, 2025. Students will be dismissed at the normal dismissal time. We hope you have a wonderful, safe summer!
