Thanks to a fantastic mini-grant awarded to Mrs. Christie Lewis, ITRT, by the Halifax County Public Schools Education Foundation, Mrs. Powell's 3rd-grade students embarked on an unforgettable educational adventure. They dove headfirst into the 'Rudolph Races' STEAM Challenge. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Halifax County Public Schools Education Foundation for their generous support, making this incredible learning experience possible.








Today, students in Mrs. Cassada's Kindergarten class teamed up to conquer 'The Tallest Christmas Tree STEAM Challenge'! Thanks to a generous mini-grant from the Halifax County Public Schools Education Foundation, our students had a blast exploring science, technology, engineering, art, and math while building towering Christmas trees together. This wonderful activity was led by Christie Lewis, ITRT.








Mrs. Grant's Kindergarten students partnered up for a festive challenge – 'The Tallest Christmas Tree STEAM Challenge' – this activity was guided by Christie Lewis, ITRT. Thanks to the incredible support of mini-grants, our students are experiencing exciting opportunities they might not have had otherwise. Thank you to the Halifax County Public Schools Education Foundation for their generosity.







Students in Mrs. Grant's kindergarten class had a blast with this STEM activity of making the tallest Christmas tree by stacking cups! Mrs. Lewis provided the materials and we got off to work! Check out these trees!










During library class, Clays Mill students received books to add to their personal libraries at home. The books were provided by Dollar General through the RIF program.




As a reminder, students will be dismissed early on Thursday, December 21, 2023. Students from South Boston Early Learning Center and South Boston Elementary School will dismiss at 11:00 AM. All other students will dismiss at 11:30 AM. Winter break for students will be December 22, 2023 - December 29, 2023. The New Year's holiday is January 1, 2024. January 2, 2024 and January 3, 2024 are professional development/teacher workdays. Students return to school on Thursday, January 4, 2024.

In celebration of Computer Science Education Week, our kindergarteners in Mrs. Cassada's class embarked on an 'Ice Age' themed coding journey! These young explorers delved in to the fascinating world of computer science, picking up essential coding basics and key vocabulary along the way. This activity was led by Christie Lewis, ITRT.





Due to water issues, Clays Mill Elementary School will be CLOSED Wednesday, December 13th. This closure only affects Clays Mill.

Mrs. Cassada's class took an adorable leap into the basics of coding with a 'Code and Go Mouse' activity, guided by Mrs. Lewis, our ITRT. These eager kindergarteners navigated through the fun and interactive world of directional coding, learning how to give simple commands to their cute robotic mice. This hands-on experience was not just about coding; it was a playful journey in problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork.
