As a reminder, Friday, April 3, 2026 is a full instructional day for students.

On Thursday, March 26, 2026, fifth-grade students from each of our elementary schools and members of the Halifax County Middle School chorus joined together to present the Halifax County Public Schools Music Showcase at the high school. Our talented students performed several selections to show how we are “United Through Music” for Music in Our Schools Month. This was possible due to the collaboration of our elementary, middle, and high school music teachers.

🚧 Important Safety Update 🚧
Demolition of the old high school building has officially begun, and the area is now an active construction zone.
For everyone’s safety, we ask that no one go beyond the fenced perimeter surrounding the building. These boundaries are in place to protect our students, staff, and visitors, and it is very important that they are respected at all times.
Students with parking passes may continue to use the old faculty lot; however, access behind the fence is strictly prohibited.
If you are heading to the tennis courts, please enter through the old faculty lot. The previous access point behind the building is now closed due to demolition.
We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and support as we work through this process. Safety remains our top priority, and we are grateful for your help in keeping our campus safe for all.

Reminders

Good evening, this is Kelvin Davis, Principal of the High County High School, with a message to all parents and guardians.
As we move into a new season and temperatures begin to get warmer, I would like to take a moment to remind families of our student dress code expectations. Our goal is to maintain a school environment that supports student safety, respect, and an effective learning atmosphere. I ask for your partnership in monitoring student attire before they arrive at school so that all students remain in compliance with the district policy.
Please help us reinforce the following expectations:
Clothing must cover skin from the chest to mid-thigh with non-see-through fabric in the front, back, and sides. Strapless garments are not permitted.
Head coverings such as hats, hoods, bandanas, and sweatbands are not allowed inside the school building unless approved for religious or medical reasons.
Your partnership helps us minimize disruptions to instruction and keeps students focused on learning. Thank you for helping your child come to school dressed appropriately each day.
If a student arrives at school out of dress code, they may be asked to change clothing or contact home for appropriate attire.
If you have any questions regarding the dress code, please feel free to contact the school.
Thank you for your continued support!

Today we had the honor of seeing Mr. Davis present the Excellence in Service award for the high school to Mr. Garcia, and there truly could not be a more deserving recipient.
Mr. Garcia is the kind of person who shows up before you even realize you need help. He quietly solves problems, stays late without recognition, answers the extra email, checks on students who need support, and steps in for faculty and staff whenever and wherever he is needed. He does not just meet expectations. He exceeds them every single day.
Our teachers and staff know they can count on him. Our students benefit from his steady presence, patience, and care. He consistently goes above and beyond, not for applause, but because he genuinely cares about this school community.
The Excellence in Service award celebrates dedication and commitment, and Mr. Garcia embodies both. We are incredibly fortunate to have him as part of our high school family.
Congratulations, Mr. Garcia. This honor is so well deserved.
