Students at Meadville Elementary enjoyed The Big Screen as part of a reward for the "Who's Reading?" program this year. They received the projector and screen as a result of a mini grant from the Halifax County Public Schools Education Foundation.
Our PreK class is enjoying the last few weeks of swimming. They are turning into little fish 🐟 and are loving the water!! 🏊♀️💦
Due to dense fog, Halifax County Public Schools will operate on a one hour delay today, Monday, May 5, 2025. Employees follow code 1, report one hour late.
Meadville Students were excited to meet Southpaw this week! He was here to congratulate us on our excellent reading for the Southpaw Reading Program! Students will enjoy free tickets on April 26th to see the Lynchburg Hillcats and Southpaw in action! Great job, Panthers!

ABC Meteorologist, Will Stafford, visited Meadville to discuss weather and the changing seasons. He made sure students understood proper storm preparations, also!
These were our High School Volunteers who helped run the Field Day stations. They did a fantastic job and then enjoyed a Kona Ice to top off the day.

To the zoo we go!! 🦁🦏🦒🐵🐧 Mrs. Martin and Mrs. McGhee’s PreK class headed to the Metro Richmond Zoo for their final trip of the year. Lots of animals were seen and lots of fun was had!! 🤩

Fifth grade students chose a science topic to research and present to the class. The students wrote a summary of important facts and created a visual presentation in preparation for their science SOL.
Any student that has completed grades PK-5 this school year is invited to participate in Summer Success. There will be fun learning activities with reading, math, and science!
Mrs. Martin and Mrs. McGhee‘s PreK class enjoyed hunting TONS of Easter eggs! 🐣 To end the day they celebrated with bunny cupcakes! 🐰

Microsoft employees shared their career journeys, answered student questions, and sparked serious tech excitement. Students got an inside look at: 🖥️ Data centers, 🔌 IT roles & responsibilities, 🧩 Servers, components & what it really takes to keep systems running! Kristin Vaughan, Teresa Downey, and Mike Wilson of Microsoft organized the event and coordinated with Susan Elliott, ITRT, to finalize plans. 🎉💻 The Girls Who Code Club at Meadville Elementary has officially wrapped up—and what an amazing journey it’s been! 🙌👩💻
Throughout the program, these young coders dove into the Girls Who Code tech & computer science curriculum, sharpening their skills with Scratch and a variety of fun, hands-on activities. 🔧✨
They also explored the empowering book "Learn to Code and Change the World," reminding them that their ideas and voices matter in tech! 💡🌍
A huge shoutout to Susan Elliott, Elementary ITRT and program facilitator, who proudly presented certificates to each participant—marking the end of this exciting chapter and the beginning of so many more! 🎓💫
