🍏 These Bulk Meals include 7 days of Breakfast and Lunch meals to include Entrees, Fruit/Veggies and Milk for the week.
🍕 Children are only permitted to receive one bulk meal bag per week.
🍊 ANY child age 1-18 years of age is eligible to receive meals.
🥨 There is no income verification needed to qualify or participate in this program.
🍔 Children do not need to live in Halifax County or attend Halifax County Schools to participate in this program.

School is out, summer meals are in! Halifax County Public Schools is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), disability or age, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Meals will be provided, on a first come, first serve basis, at the sites and times listed below. Children must remain onsite while consuming their meals.

For the time period after summer school, July 3-July 31, meals will be provided by curbside pickup on Thursday, 11:00 -1:00
Meal kits will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis, at the sites and times as follows:

After 27 years with Halifax County Public Schools, Kathy Y. Ambrose bids goodbye as she begins her retirement. Mrs. Ambrose has worked at Clays Mill, Cluster Springs, and the past 16 years at Scottsburg as a Pre-K paraprofessional. She will be greatly missed! CONGRATULATIONS, Mrs. Ambrose!!


The last day of school for students will be Thursday, May 22, 2025. Students will be dismissed at the normal dismissal time.

On Tuesday, May 20, Scottsburg Elementary School held its fifth grade promotion ceremony celebrating the elementary journey and achievements. Mr. Nathan Lantor, Ms. Jessica Roller, and Mrs. Christy Crenshaw presented recognition awards and promotional certificates to the students. Congratulations to Addison Conner for having the overall highest GPA.

On May 19, 2025, students in grades Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th at Scottsburg Elementary were recognized during Award's Day. Mr. Nathan Lantor, principal, and the teachers honored students for mastering all grade-level skills and earning All A's and AB Honor Roll all year. Awards for Leadership and Citizenship were also given. Congratulations to all our students for their educational achievements, dedication, and hard work.

Students at Scottsburg Elementary had an awesome time at field day held on May 16. Various games were enjoyed by all including the balloon-pop relay, the egg race, and especially the tug-of-war. A special thank you to Kiewit Solar for the donations of gatorade and water. Your generous donation was greatly appreciated by our students. Thank you for your support of Scottsburg Elementary.





At Scottsburg Elementary, students in Ms. Epperson's Pre-K class enjoyed their Pre-K Celebration held on May 15. During the celebration, the students did an amazing job performing some of their favorite songs for their parents and grandparents. After students received their promotion certificates, they were treated to a pizza party. It was a great day for our Pre-K class.

All after school and evening activities have been cancelled for today, Wednesday, May 14, 2025.


Scottsburg Elementary faculty and staff would like to thank the Scottsburg PTO and O'Sole Mio for providing a delicious pizza and salad lunch during Teacher Appreciation Week. A special thank you to the dedicated PTO members for always supporting Scottsburg Elementary. The lunch was greatly appreciated by everyone.




Scottsburg Elementary would like to thank the Dan River Baptist Association for the beautiful, hand-made book bags filled with books presented to our second grade students. The students were so excited and cannot wait to start reading from their book collection they received. A special thank you to Mrs. Barbara Whitlow and Mrs. Vickie Collie of Dan River Baptist Association for delivering this generous donation to our students.

Due to dense fog, Halifax County Public Schools will operate on a one hour delay today, Monday, May 5, 2025. Employees follow code 1, report one hour late.


Mark your calendars for these upcoming events at Scottsburg Elementary during the month of May 2025.


Students have enjoyed observing the LIVE critters living within the walls of the school library. They watched ants working to make tunnels and got to experience the life cycle of a butterfly, starting with the caterpillar stage. It was super fun to watch! These activities were made possible through a grant awarded by the Halifax County Public Schools Education Foundation.






Interim reports for the fourth nine weeks are available for viewing on the Campus Portal. If you need assistance with the portal or need a paper copy of the report, please contact your child's school.


On Friday, April 18, the Easter Bunny was busy at Scottsburg Elementary as he hid Easter eggs everywhere outside the school. The students had a great time finding the hidden eggs and seeing what treats the Easter Bunny had placed inside the eggs. It was an extra special day for our students!



Students at Scottsburg Elementary were so excited to receive their Reading is Fundamental (RIF) books during their library time from Mrs. Roberta Williams, the school librarian. A special thank you to Dollar General for sponsoring the RIF program for our students!

Any student that has completed grades PK-5 this school year is invited to participate in Summer Success. There will be fun learning activities with reading, math, and science!
