Students in Mrs. Heather Snead's second grade class at Scottsburg Elementary have been studying about animal adaptations and habitats. Students were challenged to choose an animal and be creative to display a model of the animal's natural habitat. The projects were very impressive from forests and oceans to farmland. The students did a great job showcasing their knowledge and understanding of how living things depend on their environment.

Once topics were selected, the fourth graders completed research and organized the information. They then designed a creative display or created a PowerPoint presentation to showcase what they had learned and used their public speaking skills and confidence to stand in front of their classmates to present this information.

At Scottsburg Elementary, Mrs. Khaela Powell, Instructional Technology Resource Teacher (ITRT), guided third grade students on an immersive virtual field trip to Ancient Egypt and Ancient China. Students enjoyed using technology to "visit" these countries and learn more about the history, geography, and culture without leaving the classroom.

Students at Scottsburg Elementary recently learned the basics of hockey in PE with Mr. Keith Beadles and Mrs. Sherrey Deel. After reviewing the rules and techniques, students split up in teams and put their new skills in action. Everyone had an exciting time playing the game. It was a fun and active way for students to build coordination, sportsmanship, and confidence.

Students in Ms. Freeman’s second grade class at Scottsburg Elementary celebrated making it through 100 days of school with lots of learning and creativity. Students participated in instructional activities centered around the number 100 and got creative by decorating 100 day sunglasses. The students had a great time wearing their glasses in hopes of sunnier days ahead and maybe a little less snow!
