Support Scottsburg Elementary during our annual fall mum fundraiser. To start your fall decorating, a variety of beautiful colors are available including yellow, orange, purple, red, and white. The cost of the mums are $8.00 each. All order forms and money are due by Wednesday, September 4, 2024. Order forms will be sent home with students and are also available in the office. Elizabeth “Liz” Huntley is an accomplished litigation attorney, dedicated child advocate, author and lecturer. Liz is the President and Co-Founder of the Hope Institute which is an organization in Alabama that helps schools build a culture of character for their students. She practices law at Lightfoot, Franklin & White, LLC in Birmingham, Alabama. Liz serves on multiple civic boards, commissions and tasks forces throughout Alabama and the country. She regularly speaks to groups throughout the U.S., often referencing her own journey as described in her published memoir titled More Than A Bird. Liz earned her law degree from the University Of Alabama School Of Law where she now serves on the Law School Foundation Board of Governors. She received her undergraduate degree from Auburn University, where she is now a member of the Auburn University Board of Trustees. Liz and her husband Tony live in Alabama and have three children.

Students in Mrs. Satterfield's and Ms. Roller's fifth grade class dissected owl pellets during Science class. The students were amazed to see how many tiny bones and teeth they could find from the animals the owl had captured for food. Thank you to the Halifax County Public Schools Education Foundation for providing the funds for this educational activity.

During guidance class, Mrs. Christal Woicikowfski, school counselor, talked with the students about showing appreciation to others. Students then made cards for the staff to show their appreciation for all they do everyday for their school. Special treats and cards were presented to the staff. Students in Mrs. Pamela Blanks' fourth grade class even got creative and drew new inventions of kitchen gadgets to help the cafeteria staff prepare the numerous meals they fix at school.
