When students reach 100 classdojo points, they have the opportunity to visit the book machine. Today, two second grade students were presented a gold coin by their teachers as their peers celebrated with them while choosing their book.
Sydnor Jennings Elementary students organized a Thanksgiving food drive to provide food for families in the community for the holiday season. Students collected 636 different food items for 10 different families in the community. The top three winning classes were first place, Autumn Doss, second grade; second place, Tanya Oliver, kindergarten; and third place, Sandra Cash, kindergarten.

Here at SJES we are thankful for our teachers! Today, students wore red or a SJES shirt for American Education Week.

Today for American Education Week, students wore blue for World Stomp out Bullying Day.
Guest speaker, Jarrod Hoffman, Owner of Hoffman Heating & Air spoke with Sydnor Jennings 5th grade students on how to maintain heat and air. Students got the opportunity to see exactly how heat and air works in their homes. They also learned about electricity, energy transfers, and the HVAC trade.
This week is American Education Week. Today is World Kindness Day and students represented by wearing green, which is the color for kindness.
In Mr. Barksdale's STEM class, students have been learning about force and motion, push and pull, motion, magnets, animal adaptations, food webs, and electrical circuits.










World Kindness Day is a day to highlight good deeds in the community focusing on the positive power and the common thread of kindness for good which binds us. Kindness is a fundamental part of the human condition which bridges the divides of race, religion, politics, gender, and location.

To honor Veteran's Day, students wore red, white, and blue.

All schools and offices will be closed Friday, November 10, 2023 in observance of Veterans Day.

Ms. Dishmond's fifth grade students made witches potion using dry ice and practiced their hypothesis making skills!







Students at Sydnor Jennings created costumes for their ozobots. Then they coded the ozobot to trick or treat.

Fifth grade students took time to read to Pre-K and Kindergarten students.




Snow White and her many dwarfs visited elementary schools today. Central office administration and staff distributed candy to students as they visited the schools. Fun was had by all! Click below to see more photos.
