🍏 These Bulk Meals include 7 days of Breakfast and Lunch meals to include Entrees, Fruit/Veggies and Milk for the week.
🍕 Children are only permitted to receive one bulk meal bag per week.
🍊 ANY child age 1-18 years of age is eligible to receive meals.
🥨 There is no income verification needed to qualify or participate in this program.
🍔 Children do not need to live in Halifax County or attend Halifax County Schools to participate in this program.

School is out, summer meals are in! Halifax County Public Schools is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), disability or age, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Meals will be provided, on a first come, first serve basis, at the sites and times listed below. Children must remain onsite while consuming their meals.

For the time period after summer school, July 3-July 31, meals will be provided by curbside pickup on Thursday, 11:00 -1:00

The last day of school for students will be Thursday, May 22, 2025. Students will be dismissed at the normal dismissal time.

All after school and evening activities have been cancelled for today, Wednesday, May 14, 2025.


Due to dense fog, Halifax County Public Schools will operate on a one hour delay today, Monday, May 5, 2025. Employees follow code 1, report one hour late.


Interim reports for the fourth nine weeks are available for viewing on the Campus Portal. If you need assistance with the portal or need a paper copy of the report, please contact your child's school.


Students and teachers dressed up for Cowboy and Cowgirl spirit day.

Fourth grade students took a journey back in time during their visit to Red Hill! They explored what daily life was like during colonial times and discovered more about Patrick Henry’s legacy and his important contributions to Virginia’s history.






Students enjoyed a visit from a very special character today, the Easter Bunny. He gave treats to all the students.





Any student that has completed grades PK-5 this school year is invited to participate in Summer Success. There will be fun learning activities with reading, math, and science!


The VA Cooperative Extension Office hosted a nutrition class at Sydnor Jennings Elementary School. After attending 4 sessions and learning all about nutrition, budgeting, and shopping, participants received a free slow cooker and blender! Classes will be held once again this spring if anyone is interested in participating. Classes will be held April 15, 22, 29, and May 6 from 3:30-5:00 pm at Sydnor Jennings. Contact the school today to reserve your spot! To receive the free gifts, participants must attend all 4 sessions.


As a reminder, schools will be closed beginning Monday, April 7, 2025 through Friday, April 11, 2025 for Spring Break. Students will return to school on Monday, April 14, 2025.

Students at Sydnor Jennings Elementary had an exciting and enriching Career Day! They explored a wide range of professions and gained valuable insights into different career paths. A huge thank you to all the volunteers who took the time to share their expertise and experiences with our students—your support made this event truly special!



5th graders conducted a hands-on experiment to model watersheds and demonstrate the meaning of "we all live downstream," showing the impact of water flow on our environment!

Sydnor Jennings hosted a night of fun with the Magic Storyteller and his Dino Exhibit. Students and families were able to view fossils under a digital microscope, read books all about dinosaurs, touch actual dinosaur bones, explore Vela the Velociraptor, and much more! Mark Daniel and his wife entertained the crowd with interesting facts all about dinosaurs throughout the night. This event was made possible by the 21st Century Grant.


Shining Stars in the 21st Century After-School Program turned into young chemists for the day! They carefully measured glue, water, and liquid starch, then mixed them together to create their own ooey-gooey slime. A hands-on, messy, and fun way to explore chemistry!
