Southside VA Vegetable is offering fresh produce to our students and families. Please come out and pick up fresh vegetables. Bags will be provided. Due to a limited amount, this event is first come first serve at the following sites:
Clays Mill, Meadville, and Sydnor Jennings

To kick off the start of Christmas season, students wore red and green.
Interim reports for the second nine weeks are available for viewing on the Campus Portal. If you need assistance with the portal or need a paper copy of the report, please contact your child's school.

More students continue to visit the book machine!
In Mr. Barksdale's STEM class, students completed the balloons over broadway activity using Ozobots. Students were shown a video that showed examples of a balloons that have been part of the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. Students created their own Macy's balloon and they had a parade.

5th grade students at Sydnor Jennings learn about electrical circuits. Dustin Francis from Mecklenburg Electric taught a lesson on electrical circuits. Students learned about conductors, insulators, open and closed circuits, as well as series and parallel circuits. Then they used snap circuits to build a variety of circuits. This was a great hands-on learning experience for our students. Thank you Mecklenburg Electric for your support.
When students reach 100 classdojo points, they have the opportunity to visit the book machine. Today, two second grade students were presented a gold coin by their teachers as their peers celebrated with them while choosing their book.
Sydnor Jennings Elementary students organized a Thanksgiving food drive to provide food for families in the community for the holiday season. Students collected 636 different food items for 10 different families in the community. The top three winning classes were first place, Autumn Doss, second grade; second place, Tanya Oliver, kindergarten; and third place, Sandra Cash, kindergarten.

All schools and offices will be closed on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 through Friday, November 24, 2023 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Here at SJES we are thankful for our teachers! Today, students wore red or a SJES shirt for American Education Week.

Today for American Education Week, students wore blue for World Stomp out Bullying Day.
Guest speaker, Jarrod Hoffman, Owner of Hoffman Heating & Air spoke with Sydnor Jennings 5th grade students on how to maintain heat and air. Students got the opportunity to see exactly how heat and air works in their homes. They also learned about electricity, energy transfers, and the HVAC trade.
