Due to forecasted freezing rain in parts of the county, Halifax County Public Schools will operate on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Tuesday, December 2, 2025. The weather team will reevaluate conditions in the morning. If needed, another alert will be sent. Twelve-month employees follow code 2, report two hours late.
As a reminder, all schools and offices will be closed on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 through Friday, November 28, 2025 for the Thanksgiving holiday. We hope you have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!
Kindergarten scholars listened to the story "Turkey Trouble." Then they programed the ozobot to move to the events in the story in the correct order. This was a fun an engaging way to practice sequencing story events.
Scholars in Mrs. Moser’s PreK classroom made festive turkey hats to celebrate Thanksgiving—gobble, gobble!
Scholars in PreK–5th grade joined their families for “Be the Scholar Night,” working together to solve math problems using hands-on manipulatives. It was a wonderful evening of learning, teamwork, and fun!
These two amazing scholars proudly represented Girls Who Code at “Be the Scholar Night.” They demonstrated how they use math to program robots and wowed families with two different coding demonstrations. We are so proud of their talent and leadership!
Sydnor Jennings Elementary hosted a “Be the Scholar Night,” where families enjoyed a delicious meal before visiting classrooms for hands-on math fun. Parents and scholars explored manipulatives together, and every scholar who participated received their own bag of math tools to take home. This event was made possible by Title I and 21st Century.
Kindergarten scholars in Miss. Whitlow's class celebrated the story Balloons Over Broadway with a day of creativity and fun! They made festive balloon headbands with librarian Mrs. Seate and crafted aluminum foil balloons with Miss. Whitlow and Mrs. Benson before marching proudly around the school.
Scholars proudly paraded around the building with the colorful balloons they created during their Balloons Over Broadway activity with the librarian Mrs. Seate. Their creativity and smiles lit up the halls!
Scholars who earned three weeks of perfect attendance were treated to a fun ice cream social! They enjoyed delicious ice cream and celebrated their accomplishment with a lively dance party.
Kindergarten scholars immersed themselves in a VR adventure, exploring how the seasons look in different parts of the world. They were amazed to see winter, spring, summer, and fall from brand-new perspectives!

Miss Farmer’s second grade class celebrated the 67th day of school today! 🎉
We kicked off the day with math challenges all about the number 67, and the kids loved showing off their problem-solving skills. We also completed a writing activity where students answered questions with the goal of creating 6–7 thoughtful responses each.

Scholars created mazes from play-doh and used force to move the balls of differing sizes through the mazes. They learned that a strong force would cause the ball to go over the maze wall. A weak force would not move the ball.
Blending in but standing out—our scholars and staff crushed Camo Spirit Day!
1st grade scholars explored fractions in an exciting VR lesson, seeing what 1/2 and 1/4 look like in a virtual world. Then they brought their learning to life by modeling the fractions with playdough!
5th grade scholars explored the flow of electricity by building simple circuits using batteries, wires, and lightbulbs. They then tested everyday materials to discover which ones were conductors and which were insulators. ⚡💡
