Due to road conditions and power outages, Halifax County Public Schools will operate on a two-hour delay, tomorrow, January 10, 2024. Twelve-month employees follow Code 2, report two hours late.
The weather team will continue to monitor conditions and will provide an update if needed in the morning by 7:00 AM.

Students Mrs. Hunt's 4th grade class at Cluster Springs Elementary School participated in the Jingle Bell Maze STEM challenge. The purchase of STEM materials was funded through a Mini-Grant from the Halifax County Public Schools Education Foundation. The Mini-Grant was awarded to Mrs. Susan Elliott, Elementary ITRT, for the project titled: Christmas STEM.
Mrs. Smith's 1st graders at Cluster Springs Elementary participated in the Shelf for the Elf Challenge. The purchase of STEM materials was funded through a Mini-Grant from the Halifax County Public Schools Education Foundation. The Mini-Grant was awarded to Mrs. Susan Elliott, Elementary ITRT, for the project titled: Christmas STEM.
Mrs. Stolzenthaler's kindergarten students at Cluster Springs worked with Mrs. Elliott, ITRT. The students used Bee-Bot to code the sequence of events in the story, The Gingerbread Man.
As a reminder, students will be dismissed early on Thursday, December 21, 2023. Students from South Boston Early Learning Center and South Boston Elementary School will dismiss at 11:00 AM. All other students will dismiss at 11:30 AM. Winter break for students will be December 22, 2023 - December 29, 2023. The New Year's holiday is January 1, 2024. January 2, 2024 and January 3, 2024 are professional development/teacher workdays. Students return to school on Thursday, January 4, 2024.

During the month of November the students at Cluster Springs Elementary School focused on the character trait of gratitude. Students learned that gratitude is choosing to appreciate the people and things in our lives. Gingerbread Escape
Mrs. Smith's 1st graders at Cluster Springs Elementary school participated in the Gingerbread Escape STEM Challenge. After listening to, The Gingerbread Man, students constructed zip lines to help the Gingerbread Man escape. The purchase of STEM materials was funded through a Mini-Grant from the Halifax County Public Schools Education Foundation. The Mini-Grant was awarded to Mrs. Susan Elliott, Elementary ITRT, for the project titled: Christmas STEM.

Both of Ms. Hudson's 3rd grade classes at Cluster Springs Elementary participated in the STEM activity, Rudolph Races. The purchase of STEM materials was funded through a Mini-Grant from the Halifax County Public Schools Education Foundation. The Mini-Grant was awarded to Mrs. Susan Elliott, Elementary ITRT, for the project titled: Christmas STEM.
Ms. Howell's 2nd graders at Cluster Springs Elementary participated in the Shelf for the Elf Challenge. All of Mrs. Tepper's 5th grade classes at Cluster Springs Elementary participated in Computer Science Education Week and the Hour of Code. Students explored coding and artificial intelligence using the Dance Party: AI Edition activity on the Code.org website. Mrs. Elliott, Elementary ITRT, facilitated the lesson.

5th graders in each of Mrs. Tepper's classes at Cluster Springs Elementary participated in the Santa’s Parachute STEM Challenge. The purchase of STEM materials was funded through a Mini-Grant from the Halifax County Public Schools Education Foundation. The Mini-Grant was awarded to Mrs. Susan Elliott, Elementary ITRT, for the project titled: Christmas STEM.
