World Kindness Day is a day to highlight good deeds in the community focusing on the positive power and the common thread of kindness for good which binds us. Kindness is a fundamental part of the human condition which bridges the divides of race, religion, politics, gender, and location.

During the month of September the students at Cluster Springs Elementary School focused on the character strong trait of respect. The students learned that respect is seeing the value in all people and things and treating them with care. A special thank you to Domino’s Pizza for providing our students with a gift for receiving Student of the Month. Today, October 10, 2023 is World Mental Health Day. This is a day to talk about mental health and show everyone that mental health matters. Virginia Farm to School Week will occur October 2-6, 2023.
The Crunch Heard ‘Round the Commonwealth increases awareness of Virginia farm to school programs. To celebrate the event, our schools in Halifax County as well as many others across Virginia will simultaneously take a bite out of a Virginia grown apple. Together, we will make some noise for farm to school programs! The “Crunch” is held during Virginia Farm to School Week each year. The Crunch will take place on Thursday, October 5, 2023.
Too many absences can keep students from succeeding in school. If students miss 10% of the school year, they are considered chronically absent.

Attendance Matters!
Did you know If a student is absent 10% or more of the school year, it is considered chronic absenteeism? Ten percent is 18 days per school year or an average of two days a month.
