All schools and offices will be closed on Monday, September 1, 2025 in observance of Labor Day.
The investigation has been completed, and the soft lockdown has been lifted.
Halifax County Public Schools is holding an online surplus auction on GovDeals.com. The auction is expected to begin on or shortly after September 1, 2025. Items from the old high school including furniture, equipment, and more are up for bid. Everything is sold as-is with no guarantees, and all sales are online only. Twenty-five items will be posted at a time, and the auction for each item will be open for 14 days. The money from the auction will be put back into the maintenance budget for schools.
There will be three open inspection dates and an appointment is not necessary. Come to the old school during the inspection dates and times, and you will be able to view the items. The address is Halifax High School (old school) 1 High School Circle South Boston, VA 24592
The open inspection dates/times are:
Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
Tuesday, September 9, 2025 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM

Great news — we’ve added **two more dates** for senior pictures:

➡️ **Sign-ups open tomorrow, August 26!**
➡️ Appointments must be scheduled online using the link or QR code provided — there are **no in-school sign-ups.**
➡️ The **last call for senior portraits will be in November,** so please make sure your senior gets scheduled before it’s too late!

Students just need to search by city/state and their name — the 8-digit code is *not required*.

Seniors, it’s time to make your parking spot your own! As part of your senior privileges, you may paint your parking space following these guidelines:
