The faculty at Meadville Elementary learned about Cybersecurity for Work and Home during their Teacher Workday. The professional development was facilitated by Susan Elliott, Elementary ITRT.


Students at Meadville Elementary School participated in Christmas STEM challenges. They completed the Gumdrop Christmas Tree Challenge STEM Challenge. The purchase of STEM materials was funded through a Mini-Grant from the Halifax County Public Schools Education Foundation. The Mini-Grant was awarded to Mrs. Susan Elliott, Elementary ITRT, for the project titled: Christmas STEM. Mrs. Waller, LAN Manager, facilitated the STEM lessons.








Ms. Hollis's kindergarten students at Meadville Elementary worked with Mrs. Elliott, ITRT. The students used Bee-Bot to code the sequence of events in the story, The Gingerbread Man.











The Girls Who Code Club at Meadville Elementary Elementary made bracelets using ASCII Binary Code. They coded their initials with red and white beads. In binary code, each letter, number and character has an 8 digit combination of zeroes and ones. The club is facilitated by Susan Elliott, ITRT.










As a reminder, students will be dismissed early on Thursday, December 21, 2023. Students from South Boston Early Learning Center and South Boston Elementary School will dismiss at 11:00 AM. All other students will dismiss at 11:30 AM. Winter break for students will be December 22, 2023 - December 29, 2023. The New Year's holiday is January 1, 2024. January 2, 2024 and January 3, 2024 are professional development/teacher workdays. Students return to school on Thursday, January 4, 2024.

Mrs. Hollis's kindergarten students sequenced events of the book, If You Give A Mouse A Cookie. They coded BeeBot to put the events in the correct order.










Students in Mrs. Martin's first grade class made candy cane ornaments and reviewed patterns. They had to create an AB, AAB, or ABB pattern.

Mrs. Hupp's kindergarteners at Meadville Elementary helped put lights on Santa’s tree. They decorated their Ozobot and used markers to make it light up as it traveled over the tree. The lesson was taught by Mrs. Elliott, ITRT.











Mrs. Moore's PreK class at Meadville Elementary participated in the Tallest Tree Cup Challenge. Students explored coding and artificial intelligence using the Dance Party: AI Edition activity on the Code.org website. Mrs. Elliott, Elementary ITRT, facilitated the lesson.
