HCPS held the 2022- 2023 Staff Appreciation Celebration tonight at the Prizery. It was a fantastic evening!
5th grade girls at Meadville Elementary School completed the Girls Who Code program. As members of the club, they learned the Girls Who Code technology and computer science curriculum and coded using Scratch and other plugged and unplugged coding activities. The girls read the book, Learn to Code and Change the World. Susan Elliott, Elementary ITRT and facilitator of the program, presented the girls with certificates to wrap up the year.
Mrs. Hollis's kindergarten class at Meadville Elementary School are learning about the Frog Life Cycle. They coded Bee-Bot to show the sequence of the stages of the life cycle. Mrs. Elliott, ITRT, facilitated the lesson.
During this STEM Activity, Mrs. Moore's PreK class at Meadville Elementary listened to the Coding Critters story. They coded the critters according to their adventures in the book.
Mrs. Hupp’s kindergarten students at Meadville Elementary are working on words with beginning s blends (st, sl, sp, sn, sm, & sw). They identified s blends in pictures and maneuvered the drone to land on the correct blend. Mrs. Elliott, ITRT, facilitated the activity.

This week Mrs. Martin's first graders have been talking about the Bossy R Triplets (er, ir, and ur). Today the students did a Bossy R Read the Room activity where they had to find words around the room and write them under the correct heading.
As a reminder, schools will be closed beginning Monday, April 10, 2023 through Friday, April 14, 2023 for Spring Break. Students will return to school on Monday, April 17, 2023.
