Mrs. Martin’s class has started learning centers and they have been talking about the 5 senses. The sense they have focused on this week is taste. Students worked in small groups with Mrs. Martin and have had the chance to taste sour, sweet, and salty foods. They then shared their favorite with the group. Needless to say they LOVED this center! Other centers this week included: stringing letter/shape beads, puzzles, alphabet building, and coloring.
As a reminder, all schools and offices will be closed Monday, September 2, 2024 in observance of Labor Day.

The YMCA of South Boston/Halifax is offering a swim clinic during the month of September.
The clinic is a fantastic opportunity to swim in a team environment and participate in the camaraderie, challenge, and excitement that comes with being part of a team. Swimming is not only a skill that stays with you for life but also promotes physical fitness, builds endurance, and boosts confidence.
To end their geometry unit, students in first grade went out on a shape hunt. Many shapes were noticed and recorded on campus.
In compliance with Virginia State Law and the Virginia Department of Education’s Frequency of Fire and Lock Down Drill requirements, students in Halifax County Public Schools will participate in required fire and lockdown safety drills during the next two weeks.
Mrs. Martin’s PreK class read Clifford Goes to School. They talked about things they do at school, such as reading, coloring, and playing. Afterwards they showed off their fabulous coloring skills and colored a picture of Clifford. This group certainly did a GREAT job!
Thank you to Southern Piedmont Land and Lake Association of Realtors Public Relations Committee for the donation of school supplies.

First Day Fun!
