Students in Mrs. Martin's first grade classroom really enjoyed their reading centers. They were reading books, playing Sight Word Stomp, doing scribble art, working on chromebooks, and creating sticker stories.

Meadville Elementary School SCA is partnering with the Halifax County Sheriff's Office to collect new toys, coats, and hats to be distributed to children in Halifax County. SCA is collecting donations as a community service project during the annual "Stuff the Cruiser" event. Donations will be collected Nov. 15th through December 1st. All students who participate will be invited to a Build-Your-Own Ice Cream Sundae Party hosted by SCA! Thanks for helping make this a success!

Kindergarteners in Ms. Hollis's class at Meadville Elementary are finishing up a thematic unit on force. In this hands on activity, students were trying to decide if pushing or pulling was easier or faster as they slid their classmates across the rug in a basket. They also completed a STEAM challenge using Legos to build an item that could hold a can of playdough. Students tested out pushing and pulling their creations.
During this STEAM lesson, Mrs. Moore's PreK class at Meadville Elementary listened to the story, Balloons Over Broadway, which told about the puppeteer who invented the first balloons for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Students created Ozobot balloons and had them travel the route of the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.
World Kindness Day is a day to highlight good deeds in the community focusing on the positive power and the common thread of kindness for good which binds us. Kindness is a fundamental part of the human condition which bridges the divides of race, religion, politics, gender, and location.

Students at Meadville Elementary School had a ghastly good time creating their fa-BOO-lous edible haunted houses. During STEAM class they designed, constructed and decorated their houses....and maybe snacked a little too!
“A leaf hunting we shall go”, Mrs. Hupp’s class enjoyed a nice afternoon leaf hunt on Monday. The students found many sizes and shapes to take with them for their leaf sketch.
First grade went on a field trip to Owen Farm October 23rd. This was funded by Halifax County Public Schools Education Foundation.
The GO TEC Mobile Lab visited Meadville Elementary School. Jacob Taylor, GO TEC Technical and Training Manager, provided hands-on robotics activities for fourth and fifth graders. Students were shown how technology, robotics and automation could be helpful in future careers.
Kindergarteners in Ms. Hollis's class at Meadville have been working on numbers and counting objects up to 10. During this activity, students had to count the pictures on a card, find the number to match the amount counted, and land the drone on the correct number.
Hitachi Energy presented Halloween goodie bags to the PK-3rd students at Meadville Elementary to promote Halloween safety.
Meadville Kindergarteners went to Owen Farm. They each received their own pumpkin from the farm, saw many animals, and went on a ride around the farm. This trip was funded by a Halifax County Public Schools Education Foundation mini grant.
