Fifth grade students became flavor detectives! Using a classification key, they investigated the mysterious Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans prior to tasting them. From sweet to downright strange, each bean was a fun surprise!
This kindergarten student in Mrs. Moore's class created herself out of Play-Doh all by herself.
All schools and offices will be closed on Monday, September 1, 2025 in observance of Labor Day.
The investigation has been completed, and the soft lockdown has been lifted.
Halifax County Public Schools is holding an online surplus auction on GovDeals.com. The auction is expected to begin on or shortly after September 1, 2025. Items from the old high school including furniture, equipment, and more are up for bid. Everything is sold as-is with no guarantees, and all sales are online only. Twenty-five items will be posted at a time, and the auction for each item will be open for 14 days. The money from the auction will be put back into the maintenance budget for schools.
There will be three open inspection dates and an appointment is not necessary. Come to the old school during the inspection dates and times, and you will be able to view the items. The address is Halifax High School (old school) 1 High School Circle South Boston, VA 24592

Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
Tuesday, September 9, 2025 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM

Halifax County School employees cannot assist with packaging or loading your item(s). The winning buyer should bring a suitable vehicle that can safely transport the item(s), and also bring materials, tools, and loading assistance as necessary.

Mrs. Hupp’s Kindergarten class read The Kissing Hand and made a cute handprint to take home.
Learning centers are in full swing in PreK! Students in Mrs. Martin and Mrs. McGhee’s class are working hard on stringing beads, lacing letters, using playdoh to create letters of the alphabet, and building puzzles. Lots of learning is going on in this classroom!! ⭐️🍎🧩
Students in Mrs. Martin and Mrs. McGhee’s PreK class are having lots of fun at school!! 🤩 They have been busy as bees 🐝 coloring, playing with playdoh, building with straws and connectors, and working with magnetic tiles. They are loving all of the hands-on activities!
It was a Dinosaur Day in the ECSE class today! We made dinosaurs out of playdough, and matched dino shapes, dino egg colors, and completed two piece dino puzzles.
ECSE students had a great first week of school!
Mrs. Martin and Mrs. McGhee’s PreK class talked about using crayons and colored a soccer ball today. They discussed how using lots of colors makes your picture unique and colorful! 🖍️⚽️⭐
