Wednesday, August 13, 2025 is the first day of school for all PreK, elementary, and HCMS students. HCHS students will return on Monday, August 18, 2025.

Halifax County Public Schools has Campus Portal so that parents can be active participants in their child’s academic progress. The Campus Portal is a communication tool that provides you with secure access to your child’s school information. It gives you access to your child’s attendance, schedule, grades, assignments, student to-do list, and behavior.

Staff will be available to help you set up your Campus Portal during Open House.

New SUN Bucks cards are on the way for automatically enrolled households! Please note that your benefits will not become available on SUN Bucks or SNAP EBT cards until July 18, even if you receive a SUN Bucks card in the mail before that date. Benefits will continue to be issued on a rolling basis, so households can expect to receive their SUN Bucks cards at different times.

School is out, summer meals are in! Halifax County Public Schools is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), disability or age, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Meals will be provided, on a first come, first serve basis, at the sites and times listed below. Children must remain onsite while consuming their meals. Halifax County Middle School does NOT collect all student Chromebooks and chargers at the end of the school year. However, students are asked to return devices if: 1. They will NOT be attending Halifax County Middle School or Halifax County High School for the next school year; OR 2. The student or parent wants to store the device over the summer break. Students needing to turn in devices should do so on or before their last day of attendance. Again, Halifax County Middle School does NOT collect all student Chromebooks and chargers at the end of the school year.

Dear Parents and Guardians, We hope this message finds you well. As part of Halifax County Middle School's ongoing commitment to providing a rich and engaging educational experience for our students, we are currently in the process of selecting a new literature textbook for our middle school curriculum. We value your input and would like to invite you to participate in the review process (May 20-29 from 9:00am-2:00pm). This is a wonderful opportunity to share your thoughts and help ensure the materials we choose best support student learning and reflect our school’s educational values. We will provide a paper survey for you to provide feedback about your review of the textbooks. Thank you for your time, consideration, and input.

Due to dense fog, Halifax County Public Schools will operate on a one hour delay today, Monday, May 5, 2025. Employees follow code 1, report one hour late.

Interim reports for the fourth nine weeks are available for viewing on the Campus Portal. If you need assistance with the portal or need a paper copy of the report, please contact your child's school.

Mrs. Bowers-Stanley, Mrs. Medley, and Mrs. Mitchell would like to thank the Halifax Education Foundation for funding our Tune Into Learning Mini-Grants for the purchase of audiobooks to support literacy in our school. We are pleased to announce that HCMS has launched its Digital Library with titles pulled directly from each grade level's curriculum to support language arts instruction and have seen active engagement with these digital resources from teachers as well as students! The images show all of the audiobook titles purchased for this project and one way the audiobooks have been used in Ms. Adams English 6 class to support instruction with reading novels!

As a reminder, schools will be closed beginning Monday, April 7, 2025 through Friday, April 11, 2025 for Spring Break. Students will return to school on Monday, April 14, 2025. We hope that you have a wonderful, safe break.
