On Friday, April 4, Ms. Sherry Cowan, principal at Scottsburg Elementary, worked her last day prior to her retirement after 40 years of dedicated service to Halifax County Public Schools. The staff and students were saddened by her retirement announcement but celebrated with her during her final hours with a "Retirement Parade" in her honor. With music in the air, students marched around the school giving Ms. Cowan lots of hugs, cards, balloons, and posters they had made. Scottie Pride was felt throughout the halls as everyone applauded her for a job well done. We will miss her!

Spring Break
Yesteryears! During the month of April, Ms. Sherry Cowan, our principal, displayed baby pictures of Scottsburg Elementary staff members in the school's showcase. She challenged the students to see if they could identify which staff members the pictures belonged to. After much guessing and careful staring at the display, the students managed to figure out most of the pictures. However, a few still left them puzzled!

During Read Across America Week, students and staff at Scottsburg Elementary had an amazing time. Throughout the school, Dr. Seuss' books were read during the week. Students also enjoyed dressing up during the various school spirit days like "Reach for a Sweet Read Day", "Read A Shirt Day", and "Books Brighten Our World". While in the library, students had to get busy and rise to the challenge to build the tallest Dr. Seuss hat and also got to play Dr. Seuss Musical Books. Ms. Cowan, school principal, treated everyone to delicious ice cream sundaes. It was a great week at Scottsburg Elementary.
