Students in Mrs. Satterfield's and Ms. Roller's fifth grade class dissected owl pellets during Science class. The students were amazed to see how many tiny bones and teeth they could find from the animals the owl had captured for food. Thank you to the Halifax County Public Schools Education Foundation for providing the funds for this educational activity.

During guidance class, Mrs. Christal Woicikowfski, school counselor, talked with the students about showing appreciation to others. Students then made cards for the staff to show their appreciation for all they do everyday for their school. Special treats and cards were presented to the staff. Students in Mrs. Pamela Blanks' fourth grade class even got creative and drew new inventions of kitchen gadgets to help the cafeteria staff prepare the numerous meals they fix at school.

Scottsburg Elementary would like to congratulate Ms. Jessica Roller, 5th grade teacher, for being selected for the 2024 Teacher of the Year and Mrs. Cari Spencer, school nurse, for being selected for the 2024 Excellence in Service Award. A special thank you to both of you for all you do to make our school great!

Sparking creativity and learning at Scottsburg Elementary! Our 5th graders in Mrs. Satterfield and Ms. Roller's classes dove into the world of electrical circuits, exploring everything from kinetic and potential energy to series and parallel circuits. Thanks to a mini-grant from the Halifax County Public Schools Education Foundation, students crafted their own Bristle Bots using toothbrush ends, cell batteries, vibrating motors, and more. Led by Mrs. Lewis, ITRT, this hands-on activity not only powered up their circuits but their imaginations as well!

Mark your calendars for the upcoming events during the month of May 2024 at Scottsburg Elementary.

Students at Scottsburg Elementary were so excited to receive their Reading is Fundamental (RIF) books during their library time from Mrs. Roberta Williams, the school librarian. A special thank you to Dollar General for sponsoring the RIF program so students can add to their home library!

The Easter Bunny had a very exhausting day at Scottsburg Elementary hiding eggs for the students in various grades to find them. After the hunt, students had to count and sort the eggs by colors. It was an 'eggstra' special day before Spring Break began.

In the last few weeks , students at Scottsburg Elementary enjoyed watching the butterfly life cycle take place while in library class. It was amazing to see the transformation from caterpillar to butterfly. This activity was made possible through a mini-grant funded by Halifax County Public Schools Education Foundation.

On March 18, 2024, the Pre-K students in Ms. Beth Epperson's class at Scottsburg Elementary were shocked that a Leprechaun destroyed their classroom while they were at PE. The Leprechaun had moved around everything and even knocked down chairs. The students were upset and decided to try and find him. To their surprise, along the way the Leprechaun had left clues to his location, but he was moving way too fast. They searched down all the hallways, in the principal's office, the gym, and even in the music room. Finally, the students rushed to the library and searched around the bookcases and discovered the Leprechaun's pot of gold. They were sad the Leprechaun had gotten away, but happy the Leprechaun had left his pot of gold and enough gold for each student to have a piece. The students had a great time taking turns counting each piece of gold. It was a very lucky day!

Report cards for the third nine weeks may be viewed on the Campus Portal. If you need assistance with the portal or need a paper copy of the report card, please contact your child's school.
