Teacher Mini-Grant - Mrs. Watts’ and Ms. Putnam’s class, from South Boston Early
Learning Center, received a Teacher Mini-Grant titled "Everyone Can Cut" from the
Halifax Education Foundation. This grant provided the classroom with a variety of
adaptive scissors designed to support young learners as they develop fine motor skills.
Adaptive scissors are specially designed to help preschoolers learn how to cut by
improving finger placement, encouraging proper grip, and building hand strength and
control. These tools are a valuable addition to the classroom, promoting independence
and confidence as children work on essential early learning skills.

Interim reports for the fourth nine weeks are available for viewing on the Campus Portal. If you need assistance with the portal or need a paper copy of the report, please contact your child's school.

Teacher Mini-Grant - Ms. Hackney's class at South Boston Early Learning Center enjoyed the Teacher Mini-Grant, Farming around the Room, they received from the HCPS Education Foundation. The students enjoyed their farm-theme materials, some which included a barn with farm animals, barnyard animal lacing cards, farm stickers, counting cows, and animal sound books. The students worked on their fine motor skills, listening skills, social-emotional and literacy skills through individual and small group activities. They were also able to work on math skills and imaginative play while interacting with their peers during large group activities.

Craft Activity – The PTO at South Boston Early Learning Center sponsored an Earth Day Craft
Activity for the students. We would like to thank the parent volunteers who came to help their
child’s class.
