Kindergarten students conducted an experiment to see what would happen to a potato, banana, and an apple when it sits out over a period time. During the potato portion of this experiment, one was placed in water and one was not. Students will observe over the next few days to see what the out come is.











Ms. Covington's ECSE student used his skills to create truck art.


Mrs. Moser's Pre-K class learned about classical music by watching different scenes from "The Nutcracker."



Mrs. Moser's Pre-K students got a chance to use their Chromebook. They explored many different games and activities based on their curriculum.







Attendance Matters!
Did you know If a student is absent 10% or more of the school year, it is considered chronic absenteeism? Ten percent is 18 days per school year or an average of two days a month.


Ms. Doss's second grade class did a hands on science experiment talking about the life cycle of a butterfly.











Ms. Oliver's Kindergarten class used shaving cream to write out numbers and letters.









Ms. Dishmond's 5th grade students did a hands on science experiment on mixture and solution.

Mrs. Waller's first grade class have been learning about the engineering process. They were asked the question of if you had an itchy back, how could you fix it? They then imagined ways to solve the problem (a back scratcher) and planned how they wanted to make it. They then were given a bag of supplies to use and were allowed to create a back scratcher. Once everyone was done, they were tested and determined ways they could be improved.






Our Bookstore will open starting Monday, September 18th.


This week in Mr. Barksdale's STEM class:
Kindergarten learned about the 4 different seasons. They discovered what the weather would be like on their birthday.
First grade students learned about Sun and Shadows. The question was "Could a statue's shadow move?"
Second grade used ozobots to show the life cycle of a butterfly.
Third grade discussed the difference between a solid, liquid, or a gas.
Fourth grade talked about pollination and was asked the question "Why do plants grow flowers?"
Fifth grade learned about force and motion and was asked the question "Could you knock down a building using only dominos?"

During Mrs. Thomas Guidance class, Mrs. Moser's Pre-K class made play dough facial expressions to match given emotions.. They did awesome work!









Sydnor Jennings Elementary School recognized 95 students who had perfect attendance for the month of August. These students attended school Every Day, All Day.


In honor of Patriot Day, students wore red, white, and blue.











Mrs. Waller's first grade class used different shapes and colors to complete a sorting activity.










Mrs. Moser's Pre-K class learns about Fall. Students used their fingerprints and paint to decorate a tree with the different fall colors.











Ms. Guthrie's fourth grade class used what they learned about the scientific method to conduct an experiment. The question was which type of paper makes the best airplane. Students were separated into three groups and given either printer paper, construction paper, or cardstock.
