In this FREE 5-week online program, families of children with disabilities learn about supporting their child’s early learning and development - from developmental milestones to tips on our most frequently asked questions, including information on making the transition from early intervention to school services easier.
Early Childhood Academy is designed so busy families can learn on their own schedule, with new sessions opening weekly and available anytime – day or night - during these dates: April 26, 2024 - May 31, 2024. Participants who complete all sessions receive a certificate of completion with 9 contact hours.

VDOE - Executive Order 28 - Student and Family Resources Regarding Opioids, Overdoes and Fentanyl.
As directed in Governor Youngkin's Executive Order 28, local school divisions must provide informational resources to students, parents, and school personnel on opioid use and abuse to ensure the health and safety of all students in Virginia.

In our after school program, fourth and fifth grade students learn about the solar system.
Principal Courtney surprises fifth grade with a pizza party.
On last Friday, SJES noticed a tiger walking around the building. He even dressed up as Principal Courtney. He went and visited every classroom and even hugged a few students and faculty members.
We would like to take this time to thank all the parents and students that came out and supported our Tiger Time Family Night. It was a great success!!
During this week of kindness, faculty and staff wrote kind notes to one another and placed them on each others door. Also, each day teachers entered a raffle to win a prize. This has been a wonderful kind week at SJES!
Mary Jordan and Kim Carson, members of Tri County Action Agency's Serving Hope Food Pantry donated food bookbags for students at Sydnor Jennings Elementary School. Selected students will receive a Bookbag Buddy each week.
Selected students at Sydnor Jennings Elementary School were recognized as Ambassadors for Kindness. These students demonstrate excellence, show respect, practice success, and go above and beyond to be kind.

Congratulations to Aleena Barksdale for becoming a finalist in the Future Chefs competition. Miss Aleena represented SJES very well. She is in the first grade and her teacher is Mrs. Waller. Congratulations again!!
