Due to the forecasted weather and the Winter Storm Warning, Halifax County Public Schools will dismiss early tomorrow, Friday, January 10, 2025. South Boston Elementary School and South Boston Early Learning Center will dismiss at 12:30 PM. All other schools will dismiss at 1:00 PM.
Pre-K students at Sydnor Jennings explored STEM concepts by stacking cups to construct the tallest Christmas tree as part of their festive STEM activities. This fun and educational experience was made possible thanks to the Halifax County Public School Education Foundation's mini-grant program.

Winter break for students will be December 23, 2024 - December 31, 2024. The New Year’s holiday is January 1, 2025. January 2, 2025 and January 3, 2025 are professional development/teacher workdays. Students return to school on Monday, January 6, 2025.

Students and staff at Sydnor Jennings Elementary School recently took part in The Great Candy Election, an engaging activity that introduced them to the election process. They voted on their favorite treat, choosing between suckers and chocolate. With an impressive 71% of the votes, chocolate emerged as the clear winner! This enjoyable experience allowed our students to learn about voting in a fun and memorable way.
