As a reminder, Halifax County Public Schools will host a Night of Innovation tomorrow, Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at HCHS. Attendees will experience technology through interactive experiences, informational displays, and hands-on exploration. A general session on being kind online will be presented by the Halifax County Public Schools Instructional Technology Specialists. Attendees can also experience the Pink Bus, a mobile cybersecurity classroom with interactive, game-based activities.
The school with the greatest percentage of students in attendance will win a prize for the school.
Food trucks will be onsite for attendees to purchase food and drinks.
The doors and food trucks will open at 5:30 PM, and the general session will begin at 6:00 PM. All attendees should enter through the front door.
TRIO Educational Opportunity Centers is hosting a workshop to help you complete your 2027-28 FAFSA!

During your student’s lunch, we will be handing out GEAR UP packets to our Class of 2027 seniors.
GEAR UP stands for Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs. It helps students and families prepare for life after high school through college and career planning, campus visits, FAFSA and financial aid support, and other opportunities.
Our Class of 2027 seniors are the students eligible to participate in GEAR UP events and receive GEAR UP items such as shirts and other materials. We strongly encourage our seniors and their families to take advantage of these opportunities, especially as we start working through college applications, FAFSA, and everything else that comes with senior year.
Be on the lookout 👀 for information about upcoming campus tours to JMU and VCU for GEAR UP seniors who are undecided.
We also have two big events coming up at HCHS:
• Tuesday, October 20th at 4:00 PM – ECMC College Night
• Wednesday, October 21st at 6:00 PM – FAFSA Next
All senior students and families are encouraged to attend. We will discuss how to navigate senior year, college applications, FAFSA, financial aid, and more.

All-in-One Session: Remember, this session includes your Formal Drape/Tux, Cap & Gown, and Casual photos in one appointment. There will be no separate spring Cap & Gown session.
Studio Option: If you cannot make the August 25 date on campus, you will need to schedule a session directly at the CADY studio in Raleigh, NC (5950-A Six Forks Rd).
