
To complete their unit on Earth, Sinai's 5th graders explored the layers of the Earth. They used a layers magnetic set to label the crut, mantle, outer core, and inner core. Then they worked together to design and create a Play-doh model of the Earth's layers.









Sinai students and faculty celebrated Sinai Spirit Day with their best tye-dye and tu tu outfits!

Sinai teachers Mrs. Baynes and Ms. Snead are participating in the ARCS (Advancing Rural Computer Science) class. They completed a coding activity with students in third grade using multiplication challenges and Sphero Indi cars. They had to find the products in order to know the correct color cards, so that the Indi car would follow the correct path from start to finish










Sinai second grade students wrote about what they would be like when they were 100 years old. Students then made 100 year old faces.

Students in Mrs. Dailey's ECSE class really enjoyed making their Valentine's Day wreath. Students used a paper plate and various different color hearts to complete their wreath.

Students in Mrs. Baynes and Ms. Emerson's third grade Social Studies and ELA classes at Sinai Elementary are studying Rome and expository writing. To celebrate Valentine's Day their students made mosaic Valentine's for their adults. Once completed, the students used the the writing process to explain how they created their mosaics step by step.








Sinai Scientists in Mrs. Bowes second grade class at Sinai Elementary participated in the STEM activity Dissolve or Not Dissolve. Students made a hypothesis about which of four substances, sugar, sand, glitter, and salt would dissolve or not in water. Students then conducted an experiment to test their hypotheses.











Sinai 5th grade scientists in Mrs. Fears homeroom completed their lab stations on erosion and weathering. They show how ice erosion works using sediments frozen in ice and sand. For chemical weathering, they carved designs into chalk and used vinegar to weather it.











Danville Community College visits Sinai Elementary School to share their 2023 Literacy Project (children book titled: Ace the Mighty conquers Knight School) with 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders. The students loved meeting Ace!

For water erosion, they used gravel, sand, straw, containers, and water. Their creations let them see how the sediments were transported.






Congratulations to our Kindness Poster Contest winners! Sinai Elementary students were encouraged to create a poster that shows what kindness means to them. It's Cool to be Kind! Students received prizes of coloring books or drawing pads and Colors of Kindness crayons, markers, or colored pencils.

Sinai Elementary students in grades K-5 who met their AR goal for the second nine weeks were treated to an AR Game Day. Students played games, had snacks and snowcones. Students enjoyed the games as well as having fun with their friends!









In recognition of National School Counseling Week, Sinai Elementary School Spirit Commnitte presented Ms. Jackson with a treat bag to show her our appreciation. Sinai is lucky to have such an awesome guidance counselor!
