Recently, Sinai's 5th graders engaged in an interactive lesson on renewable and nonrenewable resources. To simulate the depletion of nonrenewable resources, the students participated in a hands-on activity where they took turns collecting noodles. As they progressed through the activity, the students noticed that, over time, the supply of noodles diminished, mirroring the scarcity of nonrenewable resources in the real world. This experiential learning not only helped them understand the concept of resource depletion but also sparked discussions about the importance of conservation and sustainable practices. In addition to collecting noodles, the students were encouraged to think critically about how renewable resources, such as solar and wind energy, can provide sustainable alternatives to nonrenewable resources. This comprehensive approach allowed students to grasp the significance of resource management and its impact on the environment.

Recently, Mrs. Emerson's third graders at Sinai had an exciting opportunity to visit Tingy's STEM Lab. During this hands-on experience, the students divided themselves into groups and were given a Lego Transparent Classic box. In their groups, students were tasked with following the directions in the booklet to create several different types of Lego figures. This activity not only focused on building skills but also emphasized the importance of teamwork and effective communication. To successfully construct the figures, including lions, cars, wizards, aquarium fish, and potion tables, the students had to enhance their ability to follow directions and collaborate with their peers. The project was a huge success, showcasing the creativity and teamwork of the students! This visit to Tingy's STEM Lab provided a valuable learning experience, reinforcing essential skills in a fun and engaging way.

Sinai Scientists in Ms. Francis's third grade class recently showcased their creativity by building habitats and adaptations using Lego blocks. The students designed a variety of structures, including igloos, spider webs, and camouflaged shelters to protect animals. They also built nests for lost birds and even created an ice slide to help penguins slide down a hill. Working together, the students enjoyed the collaborative process of bringing their imaginative designs to life.
